I have a few questions about training a puppy.1. At what age it's best to start training?2. With what training should I begin?3. What are some recommendations in how I should do it?4. How long would it take for the dog to understand, especially if it's a smart breed?5. If I train my dog alone, will he listen only to me?
Serious dog training help! Pulling on Leash?
I have a male beagle lab mix who is 1 year old, and I have recently took him to the vet On Friday to be exact ...and it didn't go so well.He gets very excited when he sees other dogs. He started pulling really hard on the leash and barking and yelping when he couldn't get near them. People actually thought that my dog was aggressive because of the pulling. My dog isn't aggressive, but he does have problems with self control on the leash. I know that it's all my fault because I haven't been consistent with the leash training, and I'm the one to blame . I just get so frustrated because he pulls so hard that hes actually choking himself. I've recently bought the gentle leader, but I want to train him self control and leash manners, but I just don't know what to do? It was very embarrassing going to the vet because all the other dogs there were very calm. He doesn't bite, jump, or have any other problem...it's just the pulling I would like to be able to walk my dog without him turning my hand purple from all the pulling.By the way, I was wondering if you guys can give me any ideas on some games that can help my dog let out all his energy. I walk him for an hour , but it doesn't seem to be enough. Any ideas?Thank you I can't take him swimming.....hes afraid of the water.

my dog Indiana is a German Shepard. we've had him for about 9 years. since we've had him, he stays in a big cage outside all day long. My mom just recently decided she wants to start keeping him in more often. First question how do we train him to tell us when he has to go to the bathroom? Second we have cats they don't really mind each other but if they get to close, they dont get along. how do we train him to get along with the cats? any information would be great

my jack Russel is 9 years old and i wanted to teach him some basic tricks at a training class but i cant decide which one to chose can you give me some advice on which one i should go toalso the cheaper the better because i cant pay $230 for one on one dog trainingand i would prefer it to be on a sunday or a friday
Seeing eye-dog training?
I believe seeing eye dogs are amazing. But I've never seen the training they go through. A friend of mine says that she watches a dog handler somtimes train a seeing eye dog outside her apartment. She proceeded to tell me that it was heartbreaking because whenever the dog made a very made move cross the street on a red light, or walk their owner into a poll the handler would " beat the sh out of the dog." Now I know there are some extreme dog training but, is this right or should she call someone to take care of this person? Just concerned

Depressed/Unsocializing Dog and Dog Training?
Hi, I just recieved a new dog. A Mini Aussie. Adorable. He is just a pup. We took him from his family and I believe that is why he is depressed. I know he is new to us and we are new to him so it is likely for him not to be social. Be he is also showing signs of depression. He cried a lot the first day we took him home. He plays and gives us kisses, but he is not energetic and social. Sometimes when I come lay down next to him he will move somewhere else and lay there or go under something and lay there. He lays all day sleeping. Can someone help me take this dog out of depression? Only time will help him and me. But does anyone have any tips and answers? Thanks.I need help training him how to walk with me. With previous dogs I did not have problems walking. My Mini Aussie will just stop in the middle of nowhere and lay down and refuse to go anywhere. I make sure he knows its okay by showing him treats so he thinks it is safe. But it does not work most of the time. He walks with me when I take him to potty but that's about it. Any advice about leash training will be awesome. Thanks.
