What is a remote access code for answering machines?
I tried calling my friend but it rang for a long time and then some automated dude said something like " Please enter the remote access code" . What does that mean does that mean its blocked or what?i called the landline phone.

Why do some answering machines give off a beeping sound like a fax machine after several rings?
When I call a friend of mine, sometimes the phone rings 3 4 times, then starts a loud beeping soundsimilar to the sound of a fax machine. Why does this happen? Is the phone or answering machine malfunctioning or is the machine simply full of messages?

If I call my brother and his answering machine pics up after 8 rings what is happening?
I thought answering machines either picked up immediately or after one or two rings, so what's going on when it rings up to or over 8 rings before kicking in? He isn't using call notes, its the answering machine in his living room with his message on it. I have seen it.
